How Do I Quiet My Noisy Mind?

In this episode, we discuss a question from a listener who asks, 'How do you deal with impulses or distracting thoughts when trying to be present, journal, or meditate?'"

You know when you’re in a work flow and your mind tells you to check your phone? Or something doesn’t go well and you assume yourself a failure? We discuss several ways to break the cycle of getting sucked in by your thoughts, such as:

  • Becoming the Observer: Recognizing ourselves as observers, separate from thoughts.
  • Acceptance: Understanding that thoughts aren't inherently bad; resistance hooks us.
  • Understanding the Difference: Distinguishing between experiencing and thinking.
  • Isolation: Recognizing thoughts and impulses as separate.
  • Being Present: Accepting ever-present thoughts, and learning to keep them at arm's length.

This excellent question created the space for us to discuss this extremely important question - one of understanding that will deliver us to inner peace and happiness.
